Diet for gastritis of the stomach: basic rules

Regarding the organization of the gastritis diet at home, the gastroenterologist advises patients to follow five important rules.

  1. Food processing. With gastritis, food must be thermally processed. Raw vegetables and fruits are also an exception. Meat and fish are not eaten in pieces. These products are separated from bones, skin, tendons and prepared in the form of meatballs, schnitzel, cabbage rolls.
  2. Fraction menu. Food for gastritis should be frequent. However, you need to eat small portions at regular intervals. Ideally, the patient will eat four to five times a day every three hours. The last meal is no later than 7: 00 p. m. Patients diagnosed with gastritis should chew all foods well.
  3. Drink plenty of fluids. With gastritis, you should drink a lot. Especially alkaline drinks. The following waters are suitable for patients with gastritis: "Essentuki", "Borzhomi", "Mirgorodskaya". To remove carbon dioxide, uncork the bottle and place it in a bowl of warm water for about 20 minutes. This drink is useful before meals. In addition to medicinal water, gastritis patients will be shown compotes made from dried fruits and fresh berries.
  4. First courses. Soups are mandatory in the diet of a patient with gastritis. However, vegetarian recipes or second or third non-rich meat broths are preferred.
  5. Cooking food. Patients with gastritis are prohibited from eating very hot or very cold food. Food can be steamed, boiled or baked without a crust. Nothing fried, pickled, canned, fermented with a diagnosis of gastritis is impossible. Porridge is cooked in water or half milk without butter. In addition, at the stage of exacerbation of gastritis and in the presence of severe clinical symptoms, it is better to follow the recommendations on cooking that are prescribed in the No. 1 therapeutic diet. It was developed by Manuil Pevzner. In particular, it is preferable to eat food in its pure form. The products are brought into the state of a soufflé or a pate with a sieve and a mixer. Table number 1 is usually prescribed during an exacerbation of the ulcer disease.

In many ways, the diet for gastritis is similar to the menu recommended for children in the first years of life. There is no place for fatty, fried and sweet things. The dishes are prepared without spices and with a minimal amount of spices. And in order to facilitate the digestive process, the food is chopped as much as possible.

Principles of Low Acid Diet

The main role of diet in this type of gastritis is to stimulate the production of enzymes and acid in the stomach to speed up the passage of food into the intestines.

Pureed and liquid foods should be preferred. Unlike other forms of gastritis, acidic foods are acceptable, e. g. B. kefir, fresh cottage cheese and citrus fruits. Outside the period of exacerbation, you can even eat fried foods, but only without breading and limiting the amount of oil. The temperature of food should not be higher than 60 degrees and not lower than 15 degrees. The calorie content of the daily diet is up to 2500-3000 kcal.

Principles of a diet against gastritis with high acidity

Regardless of the causes of the inflammation of the gastric mucosa, it is important to adhere to the diet when treating gastritis with high acidity.

It is similar to the treatment of the acute phase: no fried, salted, smoked, spicy food, a lot of liquid and pureed food, small portions. Products should not provoke the secretion of gastric juice, remain in the stomach for a long time and additionally irritate the mucous membrane. The nutritional principles are almost identical to the diet in acute gastritis, however, schnitzel, meatballs are included in the diet, the daily salt intake is slightly increased (up to 8 g) and baked goods are allowed. The food is best steamed, stewed, boiled or baked, eaten warm and chewed thoroughly.

The normal calorie intake for gastritis with high acidity is 2200-2500 kcal. Often the patient is also prescribed vitamin complexes to compensate for the lack of vitamins.

Nutritional principles for acute illnesses

If the disease gets worse, it would make sense for this period to completely exclude the patient from all diet and give his digestive system a break. In the event that the acute form of the disease is caused by poisoning or the use of certain drugs, the first thing to do is to flush the gastrointestinal tract and induce vomiting.

On the first day, drinking warm liquids and tea is indicated. When the patient's condition improves the next day, he can gradually begin liquid feeding. First of all, it is recommended to use liquid soups made from milk and cereals, meat and fish puree. Also allows:

  • weak tea,
  • decoctions,
  • jelly,
  • honey.

Exclude from the diet in case of tightening:

  • fresh vegetables and fruits,
  • Meat broths,
  • fermented milk products,
  • carbonated drinks,
  • coffee,
  • candy,
  • all baked goods,
  • cheese.

All meals should be served steamed and lukewarm. The calorie content of the diet should not exceed 2000 kcal.

  8. Low-fat rabbit meat, poultry: turkey fillet, skinless chicken breast. You only cook a whole piece for a couple, prepare a steamed cutlet, meatballs and meat pudding for gastritis;
  9. Light tea with lots of milk, milk-based cocoa and rose hip diet drink. Depending on the acidity of the stomach, you can drink non-carbonated medicinal mineral water.

Diet No. 5 for gastritis

If gastritis is combined with cholecystitis or liver disease, then a person is recommended to feed table No. 5 at home. It is also prescribed for people with mild stomach inflammation. The diet limits the intake of foods rich in uric acid. The list of prohibited foods includes liver, yeast, canned fish, salmon, mushrooms, shrimp, and clams. The diet also limits the consumption of egg yolks.

Zucchini and vegetable stew

To cook stew, you need to take 300 g of potatoes, 150 g of zucchini, 100 g of carrots, 2 tbsp. l. Vegetable oil, 1 liter of water, carrot juice.

Zucchini and carrots are washed, cut into slices and steamed with oil. The potatoes are washed, peeled, cut into large slices, filled with water and gently cooked. Stewed vegetables are added to the finished potatoes with broth, salted and heated over low heat for 10 minutes.

Coal run

The casserole is made from 150 g of cabbage, 2 tbsp. l. Semolina, 1 egg white, 35 ml milk, 1 tbsp. l. Vegetable oil.

Mix all ingredients in a small container and let the semolina soak for 20 minutes. The cabbage is finely chopped and combined with the resulting mixture. A baking dish is greased with vegetable oil and placed in a preheated oven until soft.

Consequences of not following the diet

In case of refusal to adhere to a diet for any type of gastritis, the patient may face the following problems:

  • Vitamin deficiency;
  • diseases of the liver, pancreas, duodenum, large and small intestine (as a result of impaired gastric function);
  • significant weight loss (fear of eating);
  • gastric ulcer and its consequences: ulcer perforation, ulcer penetration - germination in the organ, bleeding;
  • Formation of atrophic gastritis and its transformation into gastric cancer.
